Kenya
In 2005 the first Farmers’ Field School (FFS) was established in the Maseno Region, Western Kenya.
Maseno is a region made up of mostly rural communities. The average farm size is around one acre, so there are a lot of farms and a lot of people!
Farmers grow maize corn and beans for their staple diet until they learn about the benefits of crop diversity and how much this improves diet from FFS.
