In 2005 the first Farmers’ Field School (FFS) was established in the Maseno Region, Western Kenya. Since then an additional 38 FFS have been established in the Region training over 1,400 farmers, and they keep on growing!

Maseno is a region made up of mostly rural communities. The average farm size is around one acre, so there are a lot of farms and a lot of people!

Farmers grow maize corn and beans for their staple diet until they learn about the benefits of crop diversity and how much this improves diet from FFS.
